2019 Funny Kid School Tour
Your imagination is your superpower. It’s powerful, entertaining and, best of all, funny! You can use it to create new things, write stronger stories, get your friends laughing or even change the world.
Matt Stanton is an award-winning and internationally bestselling author/illustrator of over half a million funny books for kids.
This August, Matt Stanton is touring in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane for a limited season only.
SYDNEY: 5-23 August
MELBOURNE: 26-30 August
BRISBANE: 2-6 September
The National English Curriculum places significant weight on teaching students to Think Imaginatively and Creatively (ENe-10c). To support teachers in this program, Matt has developed a 1hr session specifically for Stage 2 – Stage 3 students.
Highly interactive, engaging and funny, Matt’s sessions teach students the power of their imagination by scaffolding a repeatable process for creativity. The sessions are particularly engaging for reluctant readers.
Using his bestselling middle-grade series FUNNY KID as the basis, Matt discusses narrative structure, setting and character as well as leading them through a methodology for composing their own literary texts (EN1-10C, ACELT1607, ACELT1586). Students will leave the session knowing that their imagination is powerful, accessible and fun and with the confidence of a step-by-step system to overcome creative obstacles.
Pre- and post-session teaching resources are included in the package.
To coincide with Matt Stanton’s visit, parents can order signed copies through our hassle-free online ordering system. Books are labelled and delivered to the school ready to be handed out on the day. (Teachers do not need to manage order forms or money)
Matt Stanton’s school visits are charged at a flat rate of $1000 for the full school day, including as many 45min-1hr sessions as staff wish to arrange.
* Matt does not tour schools outside of this touring season due to the high quantity of books he publishes each year. Book now to reserve your school a limited place.
